Hellpoint, bring a friend – Still Brewing
What do we know so far?
Who are behind Hellpoint?
Hellpoint is a game developed by Cradle Games. Hellpoint appears to be Cradle Games debut release. However, the company is founded by industry veterans so they aren’t completely new to the industry. The game will be published by tinyBuild the prolific team behind franchises like Hello Neighbour, Party Hard as well as games like Clustertruck and Graveyard Keeper among others.
What kind of game will it be?
Hellpoint is set to be a skill-based action RPG with a high degree of difficulty. In other words, it will be what has come to be known as a Soulslike or a Soulborne (named after the Demon/Dark Souls games and Bloodborne). Similar to Immortal Planet except 3D not isometric. From the look of the images and trailer revealed so far, the game will be a mixture of science-fiction and horror elements.
Where will we find it?
Cradle Games and tinyBuild are looking for as wide a release as possible. Hellpoint is scheduled for release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, XboxOne and of course PC. But that’s not all, they will also be launching for both Mac and Linux. So the only worry you’d have for getting the game would be if your platform of choice can actually handle it.
When can we get it?
This one actually isn’t too far away. The game is scheduled for release on April 17th. So unless there are last-minute delays or it is revealed to be a very late April Fool’s joke the wait isn’t too much longer. There is also a free sequel chapter that is available now for those that want a taste. You can find the sequel as well as wishlist the main game on their Steam page (link below).
More info required!
Based on the information revealed so far, in Hellpoint you play as an organic creation. Which is to say that you were created by a figure known as “the Author” and then organically printed to the ruins of a space station now overrun by interdimensional monsters and cosmic gods. You’ll also gain powers and weapons that will blur the line between science and the occult. Prior to the game there was an event known as “the Merge” which I would assume led to the destruction of the Irid Novo space station and its inhabitation by demonic creatures. The Author has sent you to the ruins to uncover the reason behind the Merge and die trying.
While the game looks to be heavily inspired by the Soulsborne games it also seems to have a lot of its own personality and ideas as well. The setting, melding sci-fi with occult horror isn’t exactly unique but it does stand out here. However, what Hellpoint does have going for it are features such as:
- Seemless two-player drop in/out action (both local and online).
- A fast travel system in which you select the placement of checkpoints, however, the amount you have are limited so you’ll need to choose wisely
- An open-world that can be explored non-linearly
- The areas you choose to explore determines which enemies take control of various parts of the station, or which cosmic gods will accept to challenge you
- A power forging system that enabled supernatural skills
- A “New Game +” system designed for replayability to learn the whole story
- Weapons unlock new skills as you use them
- The space station moves around a Black Hole in real time, triggering events such as bosses
These are just a few of the features Cradle Games are bringing to Hellpoint. The game will also contain violence and gore, as well as high difficulty so probably not the best for kids.

Coffee of choice: I like the sweeter kinds, mixed with chocolate, coconut, caramel etc. but I won’t turn down a flat white or a straight black either.
