6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects (June 2020)

As we move further into the month of June plenty of new Kickstarter campaigns have been launched. However, a lot of the ones from last month’s list are still running as well. Be sure to give them a look as some of them may still need a final push. While others like Infinitum have sadly been canceled early. But hopefully, this is to rework the concepts and relaunch. However, this list isn’t about May’s campaigns. Today we are looking at 6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects for June.

Bloom: Memories

6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects Bloom Memories

Starting our list of 6 Top Indie Kickstarter Campaigns this month. We have Bloom: Memories launched by Studio Fawn. Credited as a top-down action RPG, although the camera seems to be more isometric. This is a game where a robot embarks on a journey to find its mother. But this is just the basics of what is on offer here. Bloom: Memories takes place in a fantasy realm largely populated by sentient plant and other nature-based creatures. Emotions will play a large part of the game, and you will be able to solve encounters via differing means. You can opt for tried and true violence. Adopt a stealth-based playstyle, or even choose to reason with creatures for peaceful solutions. The team have been working on the game for over 7 years now and for various reasons they have taken to crowdfunding for the final stretch.

Pledges range from a $5 just because you want to help. To a $17 digital edition of the game. All the way to a $75 physical plushie, as well as all previous tier rewards (in-game starting pet, a digital copy of the game, soundtrack, etc.)

This campaign will run until Sat, August 1 2020 3:33 AM AEST.

Conscript

6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects Conscript

Conscript is a project launched by JD, an indie developer completing a history degree at university. But what does the history degree have to do with game development? Well, with Conscript being a survival horror game set in WW1. More than you’d think. While there are plenty of games that take place in WW2, WW1 is a far less utilized setting. However, the horrors of war lend themselves perfectly to many genres. But Conscript chooses to take things a little further, with some Resident Evil/Silent Hill type horror thrown in. The early titles of those series are really strong reference points for Conscript. As the game uses a similar inventory system, limited weapon resources, and even the required item to save (however, this can be turned off in Conscript to allow for an unlimited save run).

Most importantly, the Kickstarter campaign is set up incredibly well. With just about every point I made in my how to guide being nailed. A pledge of $5 AUD gets you a special thanks, your name in the credits, and a wallpaper pack. $18 AUD is the Early bird special which nets you a slightly cheaper Steam copy of the game. The standard retail price will be $23 AUD. And for $3032 AUD you can even design a bonus weapon in the game (complete with your initials engraved on it) as well as all previous tier rewards.

The campaign will run until Fri, July 17 2020 2:59 AM AEST.

Lethal Running

6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects Lethal Running

Heavily inspired by 80’s action movies, Lethal Running launched by voodoosoft is an action-RPG with roguelike elements. This is an interesting campaign purely because the basic game has already been completed. The team have been working on it for a while now (I’ve even played the demo last year). But they don’t want to rest on their laurels. The team have plans to make the game bigger and better. Increasing the amount of characters, items, the basic look, and feel of the game.

The idea of the game is that in a dystopian future the gap between the rich and the poor is larger than ever. In fact, it’s so bad that the poor are almost forced into a life of crime or to appear on a gameshow to survive. Unfortunately for them, the game show isn’t much different from just being a murderous criminal. You must kill to survive and thrive.

Pledges of 5 Euros will get your name in the credits. Pledges of 25 Euros will get you a Steam Key and access to the Beta tests too. 500 Euros will give you a lot of goodies including 3 Steam keys, a special mention as a top supporter on an in-game splash screen, a logo of your choice (within reason) as an in-game poster, and plenty more.

This campaign is running (no pun intended) until Mon, July 13 2020 5:00 PM AEST.

Descent of Man

6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects Descent of Man

Descent of Man is a stealth survival horror game. The project was launched by fuzionlabs a small indie team formed in 2015. Like most of the games so far, this one has a playable demo in the Steam Games Festival. Another game heavily inspired by the Resident Evil series. However, Descent of Man feels more inspired by the later games in the series. As the game is 3D and will contain an entity that will stalk you throughout moments in the game (much like the dreaded Nemesis). The developers have also referenced Outlast in their list of influences, and Thief for their stealth and gadget mechanics. If you like the sound of a mixture of some of the best-received horror titles set in a post-apocalyptic world where you can use a sound-producing doll to trick the more simple enemies among other things. Well this one is shaping up quite well.

Additionally, this is another campaign that has every element in place. From the title down to the breakdown of where the money goes. $5 USD will give you mini-backer perks including thanks, access to updates on Discord and wallpapers. $18 USD is the Early Bird copy of the game. Full retail is $26 USD. And for $6000 you can appear in the game as either a guard or Lurker, complete with your own voice if you want.

This campaign will run until Fri, July 31 2020 9:50 PM AEST.

Street Cleaner: The Video Game

6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects Street Cleaner

Street Cleaner: The Video Game is a project launched by Street Cleaner the musician. The game will be a retro action platformer game. Similar to titles like Ninja Gaiden. It also sounds somewhat similar to Ghosts’n DJ’s in both the retro game style and the fact both are made by musicians. In the game you’ll play as Street Cleaner himself, armed with a baseball bat called the Manhandler and a gun. However, the bullets will be fairly limited (6 shots, possibly more to be found in levels). There will also be seven levels to explain, complete with 12 deadly bosses. Naturally, the music in the game will be composed by Street Cleaner himself. And the music will be an authentically NES styled chiptune soundtrack. For maximum nostalgia.

For just $1 USD you’ll gain access to the soundtrack of the game. $30 USD will give you a physical copy of the game, plus the digital goodies. And $100 USD will give you all that, plus one of a kind documents (such as concept art), plus slightly early access to the game so you can play it before everyone else.

The campaign runs until Thu, July 16 2020 4:00 AM AEST. However, due to the reasonable target and hype for the game, it has already been funded. But, they have announced a stretch goal of a second playable character if they hit $10000 USD.

Promotional guidebooks offered on a higher tier.

Paradise Lost

6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects Paradise Lost

And the final game on this 6 Top Indie Kickstarter Projects for June. Is a Mexican developed game, launched by developer Juan Pedraza. Paradise Lost is a work in progress FPS that is focused on Cosmic Horror. Cosmic Horror is a genre popularised by writer H.P. Lovecraft and subsequent adaptions of his work. So you can expect, large flailing tentacles, horrific masses of flesh, hypnotically beautiful yet bizarre forms, and other unfathomable creations. The game has been in development for a while now and this last push is to upgrade the art assets, pay for a musician, add multiplayer, improve AI, and more. The developer is hoping to finally complete the game of his dreams and turn it into a nightmare for his backers (in a good way of course).

The lowest tier of 50 MX (roughly $2.25 USD) gives you a digital copy of the game. The final tier costs 10,000 MX (about $450 USD) and it gives you a ton of items, you get a coffee mug, t-shirt, hoodie, and much more. But it also gives you a “director” role where you can have a one on one discussion with the developer about how the game should proceed. It also gives you a one time gift of as many Steam keys as you want, so you can ask for 10, 100, 1000, whatever you want, but only once.

This campaign is running until Thu, July 16 2020 8:19 AM AEST.
